What is RSS?

RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a format for distributing content. For example, news sites publish via RSS then individuals and websites automatically get the updated content.

Using your RSS feed

The RSS feed for your message board is:
xml gif http://www.websitetoolbox.com/tool/view/mb/external/viatron

Your RSS feed will allow you to view the newest threads posted in your message board.

You can offer your message board users the option of using your RSS feed by providing them with the URL. It may also be helpful to provide them with some details explaining what RSS is and how they can use it.

Viewing multiple RSS feeds

RSS Readers will download and display multiple RSS feeds for you all at once. We recommend using Feedreader, a simple and free program available for download.

Many readers are separate, "stand-alone" programs such as the program mentioned above; other services will let you add RSS feeds to a Web page. For example, Yahoo! lets you add RSS feeds to your My Yahoo! page.

Customizing your RSS feed

You can configure your RSS feed to load the newest threads in certain forums only. You can specify which forums by using the syntax below:
http://www.websitetoolbox.com/tool/view/mb/external/viatron?forumids=LIST

Replace LIST with a comma separated list of the ID number of each forum. The ID number can be found in the URL of the forum.

XML Feed

Advanced webmasters with knowledge of XML can use an XML feed to incorporate message board threads into their website.

The XML feed for your message board is:
